I have a Seiko 64s that has been running very well. Last week I had issues with the black head in that the noz test showed half of the black head all distorted and the hairlines to the left of the solid patch are broken in the center.
I had an issues like this on another one of our seiko's and I replaced the ribbon cables to fix it. I did just that on this machine and the pattern is the same. What are my chances that the brand new cable is bad? Not likely, I'm guessing. Does anyone have any other ideas? Do you think my head is toasted?
Thanks for any help. I spent most of the day yesterday looking for an answer.
does look like a data cable problem, but you can verify this by swapping spome around and see if the fault follows any particular pattern. double-check all your cables for slipts and cross-talking, especially where they go into the chassis of the printer, as that's where they normally rub and break.
apart from that, it could be either the print head board (small one on top) or the main carriage pcb.
