After the heaters warm up and my printer actually starts printing (bidirectional) I notice that the home/away delay of the carriage is extremely short for the first several inches of printing and then starts pausing for several seconds at each end. This impacts the overall productivity considerably.
Is there any solution someone has discovered for this?
I realize there is a small onboard data buffer in the printer which is why the RIP will indicate a certain percentage has transferred during the warm up phase. I'm wondering if there is some setting in the service mode that I can check or is it the transfer rate of the SCSI controller?
The latter would make the most sense however I have a new Dell Precision 370 with 2GB RAM. I'm using the recommended 29160 SCSI card with default settings and no additional devices on this card.
We had a similar situation. I went to the adaptec website and updated the SCSI driver, that resolved the pausing on our system. Don't know if that will be of any help to you.
