New here i got refered to this site from Signs 101.
I recently purchased a 2nd hand 9000 to compliment my 8000. I bought with full knowledge that there were a few ink starvation problems.
I found a few issues with the machine.
1. Capping Stations needed replacing. - I have done this already
2. 2 primer pumps needed replacing as they wernt pulling that great.
3. I would like to replace the ink pump tubes as well just to make double sure. i havent done this yet because my local HP supplier wants to charge me too much for OEM tubes plus they dont have stock.
4. Replace dampers as i thought this was the main cause of my ink starvation issues.- I have not done this yet as the 6 dampers only arrived today. I have bought these from SAM inks in singapore. I understand they arent OEM but heard that it doesnt matter. Still cannot figure out how they work though ??
Already after replacing the other parts i have seem a vast improvement in printing. I am now able to print in excess of 6mts without doing a clean.
However i still think that i would like to replace the dampers. I have heard people talking about o rings as well. When i ordered the dampers i though that they may come with o rings however i am not familar with this part at all. Can someone explain the o rings / location etc a bit better.
The machine is running OEM inks at the moment but i am just about to change over to SAM inks. I have been running SAM in my 8000 of the last 6months with GREAT results.Hence me changing the 9000 over to SAM.
What i im looking for at the moment is a step by step intruction on how to replace the dampers. Is there a manual or something?
I have opened up the printer before and removed a head so i understand how to get to the dampers but i would just like to know what is the best way to remove them without getting ink all over the place. Also will that fact that i dont have O rings affect me in any way. Do you recomend replacing dampers without O rings.
