Are you talking about the reader or the actual strip. It can be done but there are several steps. it is only stuck on with 3m double tape. There is a kit available. You need to make sure you are straight and stay in line. Remove read head makes it easier. It is a pain.. How much for Vutek.
In fact, a problem that made us to think about replacing the encoder strip is that we have a vertical lines on the test of the heads. Few days ago we replaced lot of heads ( old was in very bad condition ), and there are still vertical lines in the test. So we thought that the problem might be in the encoder (reader), we replaced and put new , but there are still lines. Option 2 is to check the strip , right ?
I assume you've cleaned the stip. I get vertical lines whenever I try to run at max speed setting. What speed are you running at? If the lines go away when you change speed then the encoder strip is fine. Try running on quality if you havent already.
Vertical lines are visible only when we print in standard and max mode ( especially is visible when we print test of heads ).....if we print in quality , then it is ok and test is perfect ..
So the lines only show up on max speed? Is that on ultra or enhanced? Just curious.
What do the actual prints look like? Test prints will always look better at slower speed.
If the stip has dust or other contaminates on it I do not think speed would matter.
Are the lines in the same place every time? If you swapped the two magenta heads would the lines remain on the right one only?
primary ingredient in windex is ammonia, it will not harm strip ( using it for 10 years on same strip ), use a soft lint free cloth. first windex until clean then iso propanol to remove any windex water traces. What condition is you carriage belt. if encoder and reader are good then you may be getting a vibration .
Hi, I feel the problem is not with the encoder strip. You need to check the carriage bearings for that. See if there is any play comes in bearing. You need to remove entire carriage to check the bearing. I think by changing carriage bearing and carriage belt tension you can get reed of the problem.
I agree with Chaitanya as well. The problems I have had on high speed usually result in a scrambled file. It makes sense that if the carriage is vibrating then the dots are jumping and missing their proper placement causing a void or white line where the dots should have landed. Do you oil the rail frequently?
