I've done the clean printhead routine from the control panel, every day we do this, but now the yellow priinthead stops working after a very short time (6-8 in.) How difficult is it to clean the printheads on the 64S? does anyone do this? I've had this printer for a year and it is just about off warranty. But the techician will come and make a service callfor less than $500.00.
wow this could be anything. have you tried cleaning the seals and wipers? what about the edge guards as ink residue can effect heads? you may want to check the small skirts at either end of the carriage as these can bring muck onto the paper and then onto the heads.
if you are interested in manual cleaning of heads, best way to access the heads is by removing wiping unit.
only thing you have to be aware is that you shouldn't touch (clean) nozzles too rough...
and on the end put wiping unit on it's place...
reason for yellow not working can be many: air leak on tubing, air leak on capper or small rubber cap beneath capper... wiping unit doesn't do job very good. blades doesn't clean all ink from head and that ink dries and clogs nozzles. faster drying of ink, can be caused by bigger fan speed and bigger temperature on dryer... when fan speed is bigger hot air goes directly onto heads!
