maintenance parts

hello seiko users -

glad i found this forum....we've got a 64s that we've been running for 1.5 years - pretty trouble free and a great addition to the shop, but....

we mistakenly allowed our service contract to lapse, and aren't planning to renew (seiko wants to send a tech to examine the machine, and wants to replace 3 heads....that service plus the new service contract would run about 10k)

i'm curious as to whether there is a source for replacement parts - i.e. wiping station parts, heads, etc...simple maintenance stuff.....or do we have to call seiko techs & have them send a tech, at a rather high cost???

thanks for any help,

matthew

i don't se any reason why you cannot purchase the required parts and fit them yourself, if you know how. the parts will bve warrantied but obviosuly seiko will not the work. heads are quite tricky but if you have somebody in the know and is quite methodical you could certainly have a go..otherwise the only source is from a seiko rep or authorised dealer.

thanks -

i'm assuming you mean purchasing from seiko, as opposed to an aftermarket source...we have access to the head-alignment tool, so that would help, and have a couple of pretty mechanical guys here.

thanks for your help - i'm seeking a tech manual for the machine, and will go from there.

matthew
