Phot Print 5
(Preview)
Does anyone use photoprint 5 (or other versions) for ripping their prints?
We are looking to get a HP designjet 9000 (its the seiko 64s by the way) and our supplier says they like photoprint 5 better that wasatch or onyx.
Anyone have an opinion?
Thanks from Seattle!

hello seiko users -
glad i found this forum....we've got a 64s that we've been running for 1.5 years - pretty trouble free and a great addition to the shop, but....
we mistakenly allowed our service contract to lapse, and aren't planning to renew (seiko wants to send a tech to examine the machi...

Dripping on edge guard
(Preview)
Is anyone having problems with drips on the edge guard? Our new machine drips ink onto the edge guard and then contaminates other colors in the process. It doesn't do this all the time, but enough that it concerns me. It tends to do this even more after a cleaning, which creates kind of a vicious circle as...

Seiko-i 100s plagued with problems
(Preview)
I have had the 100s since around October of 2005. It has always had issues and despite efforts has never worked well. It has been proven to be a printer that produces great prints, when it works.
I have never been able to let it run unattended. That's a real problem for a long banner that can take hours...

HP 9000 - ink droplets
(Preview)
Problem: Slightly static material, attracting small ink droplets, as it passes over printed material. Tends to occur are a normal printhead recovery. Static material tends to cause nozzle drop out. Therefore printhead recoveries are a requirement.
Would raising the printhead carriage reso...

Remote control of your RIP
(Preview)
If you're like us, you do a lot of work on a Mac and send files to a RIP on a PC. I'm lazier than most so, if I want to monitor the job all the way through, I use a program called Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection to control that computer. It's a free download from Microsoft (you have to use WinXP Pro for it to w...

testing with small pieces of material

Has anyone figured out how to fool the machine with a small piece of paper loaded without the feed sensor objecting to a lack of material? Can you setup the machine to accept a short piece without threading the machine?
Thanks,
John

Printing in CMYK
(Preview)
We are thinking of switching from 6 color to 4 color printing on our 100S, but are worried about light head getting clogged. Is this possible, because, as i understood, LM and LC heads are only firing when printing with color stripe? Anyone using this feature?

Montitor for banding

We're not a huge shop - so it's impossible for me to have someone sit by the printer and watch for print quality. We put a digital camera above the print area of our printer and can watch it remotely over our network and the internet - I can even monitor it while I'm at the coffeeshop while it prints.
If y...

Calculating margin+color bar width
(Preview)
Does anyone know how the margin size is calculated when printing with the color stripe on? I know the manual specifies the print area as the width of the media minus 5mm on each side, but how much width is necessary for the color stripe? Is this a RIP-specific calculation?
