Dual Roll
(Preview)
Has anyone go the dual roll option going?
Like everyone else we were sold on the idea until i actually got the machine and started asking questions. We are using Onyx 6.5 Rip and apparantly it doesnt support dual roll. I have no idea why they sell the machine pushing this option.

H- Adjust comparison
(Preview)
I posted an image of an h-adj test for my heads. I have some spraying on black and it's certainly not very solid. Magenta and Cyan also have small bands in them. I'm wondering if other users tests looks similar? We really have to stay on top of it to keep all heads firing and mini...

Anyone get the dryer offer?
(Preview)
Got a letter from Seiko offering the 100s dryer for $2000 plus 6 pak of wipe and cap fluid and 200 swabs. Sounds like a heck of a deal personally, but I have not needed the dryer for anything yet. Does anyone else have/use it? Is it helpful or worth it? We let all prints sit overni...

Polypropylene and the CP64
(Preview)
about two weeks ago I tried a sample roll of Magic GFPOLYSIJ (intelicoat) on my CP64, ran great! ordered a batch and sold a job on it.. on the first print the poly stuck to the backheater and caused a head crash!!! (looked away for a second), cleared that and started up again, noticed the sticking,...

ISA Report - new stuff
(Preview)
Things I saw at ISA:
Lots of nice printers. Flatbet UV was hot. I wish I had the money to even think about getting a Vutek, NUR, etc.
Colorspan prices apparently are way down. I think they are about $39,000 for the 72SI (correct me if I'm wrong.) That's a great price considering it prints 73" wide...

ISA Ink Report
(Preview)
If you've been waiting for third party inks, now is your chance to experiment. There were several different bulk ink systems as well as replacement cartridges. They all were printing as I watched and many of them had great output.
For many reasons, I have a certain degree of loyalty towards Seiko...

ISA Seiko / HP Report
(Preview)
Well, I went to ISA and looked at everything at length. The news for us Seiko users was pretty good - as I saw it.
The HP 9000 looks nice (black is always more sleek) and has an interesting add on - the air cleaning box and heater. It looked like it may work pretty well but gasing of the prints would probab...

Seiko Abandoning CP 64S Users?
(Preview)
ExpoPhil said in his observation of the new HP 9000 machine that it's every bit a CP 64S except in the improved firmware which makes printing smoother (avoids banding problems?) His quote is as follows:
"Something that does make a difference is the new firmware. It now has a 540 x 720 4 pass mode lik...

HP Launch
(Preview)
Hi All,
Went to the Melbourne launch of the HP9000 on Wednesday. Here's a couple of notes.
In comparison with the 64S, it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and even smells like a duck. It's a different colour to the 64S and the terminology is different in the menus but seems exactly the same...

Nozzle Check - opinions requested
(Preview)
Hi all,
I would like to ask for a second (and a third or more) opinion on the black nozzle check image below.
In anyone elses opinion would you say this is acceptable? The so called experts (who actually know stuff all) say it is within spec!?!? If this is within spec then what is out of spec? It is also s...

Ink Waste
(Preview)
Hello everyone.
My company purchased a Color Painter just over a year ago and have found that the amount of ink waste is far beyond what we had expected.
We have purchased and used about 130 L of ink and now have about 45L of waste.
Is this normal?
I have had to do several Normal and Strong cleaning...

Autoupdate: now...blue, magenta, yellow outlines on white...?
(Preview)
I recently updated Onyx because our printing computers are not connected to the internet to prevent problems. After the update we ran a 52' trailer. I noticed after the fact that around all the areas with white and other light colors...there are thin blue, magenta, and yellow lines outlining them. I...

So... our Seiko is dead. I mean not completely.
Everything is running great, except for the fact that this naughty machine only pretends that she's printing ;) I mean it! It moves the carriage back and forth, seems like it's printing, but actually no heads are firing. And it is not because all of th...

which SCSI card do you use?
(Preview)
Hi! I'm beginning to think that my occassional trouble with my CP64s and CS6060 are caused by my Adaptec 29160 card.
Can you please tell me which card you use? Do you technicians recommend any specific card?

Hello everyone, I have finally found my way here!
Is anyone else having banding issues with the yellow ink on the 64s?

Ghost in the machine?
(Preview)
Hi from Germany!
Has anyone experienced such ghost pictures in prints on the CP64S like me?
I´m using PosterPrint 11 by ErgoSoft on a Win2000-Platform-PC.
They happen much more often on machine startup in the morning. Then after restarting the print (3-4 times) the effect is mostly gone.
