Streaks in solid red an blue prints???

I'm getting streaks in solid reds and blues, I don't think I'd call it banding. In a solid block of red, every 1.5" there is a streak of colour that is more yellow than the rest. The end result is a striped looking print, with these more yellow streaks every 1.5". The tech says the heads all check out ok and thinks it may be bad ink. Any thoughts?

you need to decide whetehr it's the printer or rip. try printing uni-directional to see if that helps or changing the print mode into highlight. try going into eight-pass and this solves most printhead issues. also try a different screening pattern to see it this helps.
i'm presuming all the caps and wipers are clean and have the fluid inserted onto the sponge.

I've tried many different profiles and all the same result. Very strange but 8 pass is the problem. At least in red, 4 pass is better. No streaks but of course it's more likely to show the passes. I will try different screening pattern. Thanks.

sorry this is weeks after your original post!
first do a nozzle check, see if you have nozzles out.
then check the cmyk values of the colors in your file. i find that especially with blues and greens, if solid colors are made up of just 2 colors --such as a green made of 97% yellow, 100% cyan-- the machine may print using only 2 heads, revealing flaws of those printheads. so if you have a nozzle out on your cyan head you'll clearly see a yellow streak. you may also see the 'seam' band between passes.
i have found no real solution for this beyond adding noise with photoshop, or changing the 2-ink colors to 4 inks. my customer persists in using solid colors that bring up this issue for me, over and over.....:^)
